Time stopped in Salamanca two hundred years ago, when the first Mennonites came to Mexico in search of their place on the Earth. Here everything is predetermined — the descendants repeat the lives of their ancestors.

The personal story told here is only part of a family history, and one man’s past tells us about any other. While the film’s hero recalls his childhood in search of the answer to life’s most important question, days, months, and years slowly pass in Salamanca.
